Privacy Policy
Jaber Aldarb ("we," "us," "our," or "the App") provides a shared and private shuttle service between fixed points in Madinah, connecting customers with independent captains. This Privacy Policy explains what personal data we collect through the Jaber Aldarb customer and captain apps, why we collect it, how we protect it, and the choices and rights you have over it. It applies to anyone who uses the Jaber Aldarb customer app, the Jaber Aldarb captain app, or otherwise interacts with our service.

1.Information we collect
What we collect depends on whether you use Jaber Aldarb as a customer or as a captain.
If you use the customer app
- Account information: your name, phone number, gender, and the password you set (stored in encrypted/hashed form, never in plain text).
- Location data: the pickup location you place on the map for each trip, and — while a trip is in progress — your captain's live location, which we display to you so you can track your ride.
- Trip history: the routes you've booked, fares paid, payment method used, seats booked, ratings you gave and received, and which captain drove you.
- Wallet and payment information: your in-app wallet balance and transaction history. If you choose to pay by card once that option is available, payment card details are handled directly by our payment processor (see Section 4) — we do not store your full card number.
- Communications: if you contact support (including via WhatsApp), we may keep a record of that conversation to resolve your issue and improve our service.
If you use the captain app
- Account information: your name, phone number, and password (stored securely).
- Vehicle and licensing documents: vehicle registration, insurance, inspection certificate, driving license, and a photo of you, submitted for verification before you can accept trips. These documents are reviewed by our supervisors as part of approving you to drive on the platform.
- Location data: your live location is shared continuously while you are online and while a trip is in progress, so customers can find and track you, and so we can maintain an accurate route history for each trip.
- Earnings and payout information: your trip earnings, wallet balance, commission owed, and payout request history.
- Ratings and trip history: ratings and feedback left by customers, and a record of the trips you've completed.
2.Location data specifically
Location is central to how Jaber Aldarb works, so we want to be specific about it. Customers set a pickup pin before each trip, which we validate against the actual route so captains know exactly where to find you. Captains share their live location continuously while online, so the app can match them to nearby trips, so customers can track an approaching ride, and so a full driven-route history can be recorded for each trip for safety and dispute-resolution purposes.
We do not track a customer's location outside of an active booking, and we do not track a captain's location while they are offline.
3.How we use your information
We use the information described above to:
- Match customers with available captains and calculate accurate fares;
- Show customers a live map of their approaching captain and the driven route during a trip;
- Process payments, maintain wallet balances, and calculate captain earnings and platform commission;
- Verify that captains and their vehicles meet our documentation requirements before they can accept trips;
- Maintain trip history for both customers and captains, including for safety investigations or dispute resolution;
- Send push notifications relevant to your trips (for example, that a captain has accepted your booking);
- Provide customer support and respond to questions or complaints;
- Detect and prevent fraud, abuse, or violations of our Terms and Conditions;
- Comply with legal obligations, including those under the PDPL and applicable Saudi transport regulations.
We do not sell your personal data to third parties, and we do not use your data to build advertising profiles.
4.Payment and wallet information
Jaber Aldarb currently supports cash payment (settled directly between customer and captain) and in-app wallet payment (a balance you top up and spend within the app, which we track on our own servers). [Once card payment is enabled through our payment processor, Tap Payments,] your card details will be entered directly with Tap and handled under Tap's own security standards — we receive confirmation that a payment succeeded, not your full card number. Wallet balances, transaction history, and captain commission records are stored on our own servers as described in Section 6.
5.How information is shared
We share personal data only where it's necessary to provide the service, and never for marketing purposes to outside parties:
- Between customers and captains: when you're matched for a trip, each party can see the other's name, phone number, and (for captains) vehicle details — the same information you'd naturally exchange to complete a ride safely.
- With our payment processor [Tap Payments], solely to process card payments, once that feature is enabled.
- With our hosting and infrastructure providers (see Section 6), who store data on our behalf under contractual confidentiality obligations, and do not use it for their own purposes.
- With regulators or law enforcement, where required by Saudi law — for example, in response to a valid legal request, or as part of our obligations to the Transport General Authority.
6.Where your data is stored, and how it's protected
Your data is stored in a managed database and is protected by encryption in transit (all connections to our apps use HTTPS) and access controls limiting who at Jaber Aldarb can view it. Captain vehicle documents are stored securely and are only accessible to supervisors reviewing account approvals.
[Our infrastructure is provided by Render and Neon (Postgres). Virginia, United States.]
7.How long we keep your data
We retain trip history, wallet transaction records, and account information for as long as your account is active, and for a reasonable period afterward to meet accounting, tax, and legal obligations, and to resolve any outstanding disputes. Captain documents are retained for the duration of their approval to operate on the platform and for a period afterward as required by applicable transport regulations. If you delete your account, we will delete or anonymize personal data that we are not otherwise required to keep.
8.Your rights over your data
Under the PDPL, you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you;
- Request correction of inaccurate or outdated data;
- Request deletion of your data, subject to our legal and legitimate business retention needs described in Section 7;
- Withdraw consent for processing that relies on your consent, where applicable;
- Object to certain uses of your data.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details in Section 14. We will respond within the timeframe required by the PDPL.
9.Cross-border data transfer
[Our infrastructure is provided by Render and Neon (Postgres). Virginia, United States.]
10.Push notifications and communications
With your permission, we send push notifications about your trips — for example, when a captain accepts your booking or when a trip nearby needs a captain. You can disable push notifications at any time from your device's settings. We may also contact you directly (for example, via WhatsApp) in response to a support request you initiate.
11.Children's privacy
Jaber Aldarb is intended for use by adults capable of entering into a binding agreement under Saudi law. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us so we can remove it.
12.Data breach notification
If a personal data breach occurs that could compromise your data or cause you harm, we will notify the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA) within the timeframe required by the PDPL, and will notify affected users without undue delay where required to do so.
13.Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time as our service changes or as required by law. We'll update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page, and where changes are material, we'll take reasonable steps to notify you through the app.
